2008's Seven Hottest Rosaries

Your Most Popular Rosaries - According To Google

According to Google the Rosary is a hot item. How hot? Well, Google Adwords Analytic Tool estimates over 1.5 million monthly web searches include the term Rosary. You can expect to see a 20% increase during October, the month of the Rosary.

This trend shocks many as the 1960's witnessed a strong push to be a more "modern Church" and saw this antiquated devotion as "past its prime." With over 40 years to judge the fruits of the new "modern Church," many are seeing that there could be a direct correlation with with the fall of devotion to the Rosary and the fall of fidelity to the Catholic Church.

People are wanting a change, and according to Google it looks like the change is nothing new but something old. Saints like St. Louis de Montfort and St. Robert Bellarmine referred to the Rosary as "the weapon." And people are longing for a weapon to fight evil. It looks like the Rosary is that weapon.

Here's 2008's Hottest Rosaries.

Note: This list will not include the most searched for Rosary terms like "how to pray the Rosary," just which Rosaries are the most popular.

  • "Rosaries" - This is easily the largest search, mainly because it is a catch-all phrase. Here people are looking for any particular rosary, something that will touch the heart. Over 60,000 monthly searches.
  • "Silver Rosary" - Barely beating out gold Rosary, people are wanting a high end heirloom or they want the beautiful look of silver. There were approximately 28,000 searches with the term silver and rosary.
  • "Gold Rosary" - Nothing is more precious than gold in the earthly realm and when adding gold to the rosary it makes for a beautiful connection between Heaven and earth. 26,000 searches.
  • "Wooden/Wood Rosary" - A well-made wooden rosary has a very good feel to it and is perfect for children or cost-conscious prayer warriors. With the exception of plastic Rosaries, the wooden Rosary is used most as an evangelization tool, given as a free gift to encourage devotion to the Rosary. 5,300 searches.

  • "Crystal Rosary" - This could be the most popular Rosary. Everyone seems to have one of these, be it real or fake. 2,000 searches.
  • "Celtic/Irish Rosary" - Everybody wants to be Irish, or at least have a green rosary (especially on St. Patrick's Day.) 1,600 searches.
  • "Pearl Rosary" - Pearl Rosaries are beautiful. An excellent choice to hand down through the generations. 960 searches.

While contemplating your New Year Resolutions, how about making one that will improve your spiritual life while building up the Body of Christ. Pray the Rosary daily.

God bless you and Happy New Year.

Hail Joseph, pure of heart. the Lord has favored Thee, blessed art Thou among men and blessed are the fruits of the love and protection You gave as head of the Holy Family.
Holy Joseph, virginal foster Father of God the Son and beloved husband of Mary Immaculate, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Great information! I have given away nearly 800 handmade rosaries this past year. I make beaded and knotted rosaries. I'd like to point out that the modern church didn't do away with devotions as so many people think. The truth is Vatican II's document Sacrosanctum Concilium—The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy states," 13. Popular devotions of the Christian people are to be highly commended, provided they accord with the laws and norms of the Church, above all when they are ordered by the Apostolic See." There hasn't been a Pope since Vatican II who has not encouraged the rosary as a sincere form of devotion, especially Pope JPII.
Thanks
Peacefully,

Blessed Mother has given us the Rosary of the Unborn through visionary Maureen Sweeney-Kyle. Mary showed Maureen a Rosary with the Hail Mary beads shaped like teardrops and a replica of the pre-born child in each one asking her to tell the people that when they pray the Rosary on this special Rosary of the Unborn there will be a baby rescued from an abortion for each Hail Mary bead. Maureen has had these Rosaries made according to what she was shown and you can get one calling 440-327-4532. That is the United Hearts Gift Shop. Many lives can be saved.

I mean if you're a millionaire,go for it-- but... even with the means, still a maybe-.

do you think it matters, the priciness of YOUR Rosary versus actually saying it ?

Thanks for the quote Tom and may God bless you work.

Just to clarify, the "modern Church" was referring to those whom went away from the actual teachings of the Church and not the teachings themselves.

I will have to remember that quote from Vatican II.

Dawn,
Might want to read up on Mrs. Sweeney-Kyle. Here is a URL http://www.apparitionsites.com/apparition-sites/holy-love-ministries-maureen-sweeney-kyle.htm

The big item here would be the fact this person divorced and remarried during the apparition. Since she is still receiving Holy Communion this means she is in constant mortal sin.
This would exclude Mary the mother of God as being the person who is being seen.
This whole episode has the stink of the devil in it.
Also the church has condemned the visions of this lady about 15 or so years ago.

Before condemning someone do you know for a fact that Maureen Sweeney did NOT receive an annulment of her first marriage.

Did you do a search for Rosary Bracelets? I know that I had over 5,000 hits on my site this year from the words "Rosary Bracelet"

I don't know how 'hot' they would be considered, but I can say that I had very good sales during Christmas:

www.sthubertsrosary.com

Mostly semiprecious stones sold, and Fancy Agate, Snowflake Obsidian and Rose Quartz are the most popular stones.

Anonymous: I think it natural that people are attracted to particular colors or materials when they want to pray. I mean, you can pray in a cave, but its often easier to focus the heart in prayer when sitting in a grand cathedral. Praying with something that looks pretty and feels nice in the hand is only a help, but it isn't the prayer itself. Some grouse about the cost of building a beautiful church full of statues and carved decorations, but if it is a means to help others pray, the cost is worth it.

Of the glass Rosary bracelets, light blue tops any other color. I ran out of beads.

I know that many of my customers use them to pray and not to just wear something pretty and religious; I have lovely emails from many who tell me how nice it is to have a Rosary right there on their wrist so they can catch a moment of prayer. It reminds them to pray rather than worry. One of my customers works in a very stressful job in government in her state and has one made for each suit; she likes that they aren't overtly 'religious' looking so she doesn't have to worry about anyone getting bent out of shape over a gov't worker wearing religious jewelry on the job. She does use her bracelets for prayer, too - her job would giver her ulcers if she didn't stop and pray frequently.

One of my male customers gave his bracelet away to a clerk. After talking with him for a while, he discerned that the clerk needed it more than he did. He told me that it just seemed to be the right thing to do.

I'm much happier thinking that the Rosary itself is "hot" than any one type is "hot" for fashion or bragging's sake!

Nice Site and Rosary bracelets.

To answer your question the term Rosary bracelet gets about 22,000 searches a month. That includes some specific ones like sterling silver rosary bracelet.

Thanks for the comment.

MICHAEL G. BATCHO ---

"the rosary" is the chain of life . . . it links us with the prayers of our family, and of each other and with The Blessed Mother and through her with Jesus' prayer to The Father in The Holy Spirit . . . Father Patrick Peyton used to say: "The Family That Prayes Together Stays Together" as he urged the praying of "The Family Rosary" . . .

i come from the spiritual and litgical traidion of The Eastern Church, Orthodoxy . . .yet i pray The Rosary for all of the reasons i stated above, and most of all because it is the form of prayer that Our Lady specifically named and asked that we pray. and she asked this not once, but many times and in many places. so it is a prayer in which Mary joins in a special way as she intercedes for us in her own prayers . . . the rosary transcends "east and west" and it transcends denominations and "various faiths" . . . it is a prayer that begins here on our lips and in our hearts and ends on the lips and in the heart of Mary, the Mother of God in heaven . . . who could ignore such a powerful prayer?
