St. Robert Bellarmine Quote: The Role Of Mary

We Imitate Jesus When We Honor His Mother, Mary!

To Jesus, through Mary
Here is a St. Robert Bellarmine Quote concerning the role of Mary.

"When we appeal to the throne of grace we do so through Mary, honoring God by honoring His Mother, imitating Him by exalting her, touching the most responsive chord in the sacred heart of Christ with the sweet name of Mary."

"Imitating Him by exalting her!" St. Bellarmine gave us a line worth contemplating.

How did Jesus come to us? Wasn't it through His Mother? Aren't we suppose to imitate Jesus? So, what's wrong with going through Mary to learn how to love Jesus more? Does not scripture tell us Mary's "soul magnifies the Lord?"

To Jesus, through Mary. It's not only Catholic, it's scriptural! ! !

I always wonder why so many think that if we love Mary then we are somehow lessening our love for Jesus? If anything the opposite is true. Jesus loved His Mother and gave her to each of us.

Beautiful post Thankyou John Michael:).

Peace to you

I understand some people's uneasiness about venertaing the Theotokos and Ever Virgn Mary, because in many countries there is definitely an unhealthy emphasis placed on the BVM; in these places Christ appears to be an afterthought.

As long as people remember that the BVM's greatest desire is that we follow Christ, and not her, except as an teacher of obedience, trust and all the qualities necessary to be a true God fearing Christian, then one can only benefit from venerating the only human being to completely submit to God.

Also, sometimes I find I'm angry at or confused about God but I can also turn to the BVM to help me see my way clear to a right relationship and understanding of my Creator, and she always, always answers this prayer.Always.

It is truly proper to glorify you
who have borne God
the ever blessed, immaculate and the Mother of our God
more honorable than the cherubim
and beyond compare more glorious than the seraphim
who a virgin gave birth to God the Word
You truly the Theotokos,we magnify
Eastern Christian hymn to the BVM
