My Dear People,
We remember all fathers and grandfathers both living and deceased this weekend. Fatherhood is at the heart of the Old Testament. Abraham entered into a sacred covenant with God the Father. Moses received the Ten Commandments from Him. All the Holy Prophets were guided through Him. Jesus died in obedience to Him. So who is this "God the Father"? "What you see in Me, you see of my Heavenly Father; Jesus tells the Apostles. "Nothing I do is apart from Him."
So what we need most, from our earthly "fathers", is a preparation to meet our Father in Heaven after we die. What a great duty we have as "earthly fathers". No less than the responsibility to live, breathe and serve God Our Father in Heaven, are we commissioned to do as dads and granddads. Pray for all fathers, that they might imitate the perfect love and mercy of God Our Father in Heaven. May all our fathers, living and deceased, give God glory.
May tough economic times remind us to put our faith in Jesus and reevaluate our priorities according to the teachings of the Gospel.
Entrusting you to the care of Our Lady,
Fr. Mark
