It's Not The 10 Suggestions

My Dear People,

Jesus Waits For You in the Confessional

The Ten Commandments were never meant to be the "10 suggestions". They are not optional. God the Father intended for us to remain in the "safe zone" while walking in His Presence. As long as we obey Him, we never run the risk of moving too far from His Divine Will. God loves us. He longs for us. God constantly protects us. Like good and holy parents, God longs for us to return back home to be with Him for all eternity.

Lent is a great time to seriously examine our consciences. A good and holy Confession cleans the soul and heals the heart. Please do not let this Lent pass without making your Easter duty. Jesus waits for you in the Confessional.

Entrusting you to the care of Our Lady,

Fr. Mark

I really appreciate the link to the two examens -- one for mortal sins and one for venial. Even with examens, it's so easy to "see what you want to see." Do you know of any way to get past that? I go to Confession once a week usually, and try not to ever go less frequently than three weeks. I am a convert, and I was never instructed in this Sacrament. (I entered the Church in the 1970s; it was a free-for-all then. Basically, good enough was good enough, and "God bless you for your effort," so now I have lots of questions.

The Sacrament of Confession is such an amazing, powerful Sacrament. So many Catholics treat it in a very off-hand manner, but what a treasure! Do you think you could consider making category on your blog for this topic? I have so many questions about Confession, about taking it to its deepest possible levels, but I'll leave it at this for now.
